Inspiration – Aida Alvarez

It is always inspiring to see someone from a modest home to make it big. I still don’t think that is the only way to inspire me. There is also the ability to be the first at something, no matter how big or small, and remarkable. Aida Alvarez was the first Hispanic to head the Small Business Administration.

It is a common theme on this list that parents feel the importance of giving their children the future they did not have. Aida Alvarez is just one more example of a woman that had parents with a vision and proved them right. From humble beginnings and giving it all you’ve got, she has proven herself in the business world and in the President’s Cabinet. And it all started with great parents that did not have much, they did have more vision than most, and were invested in the future of their children.

So today’s inspiration is not only for Aida Alvarez. It is also for the parents of people like Helen Keller, Sonia Sotomayor and Marian Wright Edelman, who gave their children wings.
